This Years HOT Wedding Trends

Hottest Wedding Trends this Year

I paid a visit to Craig Sole, floral designer & artist extraordinaire, last week to discuss the latest wedding trends. I was surprised to learn that a new shade of pink is making headlines this year and the color black is coming back in unexpected ways.

Flashy is classy!

Craig tells me, ‘Beading, sequins, shimmer & shine. Everything that sparkles is in for 2018!’ But it can be easy to go overboard on the sparkles. Adding a glint here and there will be an excellent way to show off for your wedding photographs but include it in the right doses. Craig also pointed out that rose gold is on the hot list for next year!

The truth is I’ve had several trendsetter brides throughout the last 15 years. But after my discussion with Craig, I took to the internet to compare our conversation to what the industry is buzzing about. As our wedding schedules fill with couples for the 2018 wedding season, it’s exciting to see all of these ideas come to life!

Wedding Trend #1: Millenial Pink

inspired by Zuhair Murad (from Savoir Flair)

Yup. It looks like pink is here to stay. I’ve seen a variety of specific shade of pink come and go over the years. According to Savoir Flair; ‘This baby-blush tone has been at the center of streetwear looks, food obsessions, and DIY trends throughout 2017, but for next year, millennial pink is taking over the bridal scene as well. Zuhair Murad provides the perfect pink #wedspo, featuring the color across tulle, embroidery, and beading at his Fall/Winter 2017 Couture show.’

Wedding Trend #2: Capes & Capelets

Another wedding trend I was thrilled to see making an impression: capes & capelets! I’ve always loved the dramatic look of a cape or fancy shawl. A simple sheer layer of fabric can diversify the bridal look for unique portraits. This can be wore throughout the day or just for adding some dramatic portraits to your wedding photographs.

Wedding Trend #3: Wearing the Veil

If the thought of a long veil doesn’t appeal to you, then you are in luck. One of the trends for next year is ‘re-defining’ the veil.

What does that mean exactly?

According to Elle, ‘Veils are getting an update with ingenious styling tricks. Sachin & Babi showed two options: wrapped around the neck to double as jewelry, or worn across the shoulders like a modern shawl. Meanwhile Alyne took on the birdcage veil with a simple wrap across the face.’

Plus there are plenty of other hot accessories that can diversify your look and make you feel like a bride. Overstated jewelry is also on the list for next year.
